A respected politician with deep roots in Mount Kenya and a former lawmaker, Kabando wa Kabando, expressed his concerns on Tuesday regarding alleged intimidation and abuse faced by critics of the Kenya Kwanza regime. In a statement shared on social media, Kabando made it clear that he would not be silenced and pledged to criticize the government when necessary while also supporting them when they pursue the right path.
Reflecting on past events, Kabando recalled how he promptly congratulated President Ruto when the Supreme Court validated his election, even though he was a member of Azimio at the time. Based on this principle, he now calls upon the Kenya Kwanza government to uphold and respect the rule of law, along with the recent decision made by the High Court.
"I will consistently support my President whenever it is warranted, but I will also fearlessly oppose any excessive actions by his administration," stated Kabando.
The fiery remarks from Kabando followed his recent commendation of the High Court of Kenya for deeming the appointments of the Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) unconstitutional. It appears that this stance has put him at odds with many members of the UDA party, who expressed discontent with the court's ruling.
Kabando's historical role in the fight for the nation's second liberation during the dictatorial Moi regime showcases his unwavering spirit. Despite any form of intimidation from those in power, he remains resolute in his commitment.
