ORPP said they would not be blackmailed or threatened by politicians

Political Parties Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ali Abdullahi Surrow in an interview with The Star on May 29, 2023

The Census Bureau has returned its resignation to Ann Nderitu by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya.

Political Parties Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ali Abdullahi Sarrow said that ORPP is an independent organization and is not directed or supervised by any person or authority.

Sarrow, who is responsible for management and compliance, said that they will not be threatened or blackmailed because they make operational decisions.

He said, "We act on the importance of the Chamber, the law and the Constitution in our decisions."

However, Sarrow said Azimio executives have a say in ORPP decisions.

The Deputy Registrar said in an interview with The Star that ORPP is committed to being an independent agency.

He added, "Leaders should be leaders in the advancement of the law and should not interfere with democratic authority. We must also abide by democratic rules and principles."

Azimio's management requested his resignation after party registrar Nderitu was accused of dancing for the leader.

They accused the former ruling party of causing trouble in the Jubilee.

Former CS Eugene Wamalwa's Azimio said in a statement, "Ann Nderitu should step down as it is a clear indication that she was illegally brought into coalition by Kenyan Kwanzaa to be weaker than protecting the political party."

Azimio added that Nderitu did not gain the party's trust.

The leaders also claimed that Nderitu was used to hijack the Jubilee organization.

The demands came after the approval of changes in the Jubilee party, which saw the removal of vice president David Murathe and general secretary Jeremiah Kioni from the organization.

Nderitu said that the legal process is being followed in expelling members from the party based on allegations of serious crimes and contempt of party institutions. The Jubilee party, led by Kanini Kega, a member of the
East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), said the National Disciplinary Board had concluded the case involving the couple and sent its decision to the head of state (NEC).

MYK accepted the decision and sent the report to the Personnel Registrar for approval.
On Monday, Sarrow said ORPP had made a legal decision.

"Some people will be delighted and others will object when we make a decision."

He said Azimio's ORPP claim has led to the independence of many remote groups.

"We have a total of 90 political figures in the country. "Having a disagreement in one party does not mean we will move to multi-party democracy," he said.
