Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has finally been released after being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department. Njenga was discharged from the hospital on Thursday after being questioned by investigators at DCI headquarters for more than 10 hours.

Many followers of Njenga gathered at DCI headquarters throughout the day to express their dissatisfaction with the imprisoned leader. Police also clashed with Njenga's followers during protests along Kiambu Road. Mostly fed up with the arrest of former leader Mungiki, Njenga's supporters blocked the way to protest. Azimio officials also came to the DCI office to demand Njenga's release.
On the other hand, Njenga's problems started a few days ago when DCI broke into her home in Nakuru. During the firing, DCI found a gun and a bhang roll. Investigators eventually issued an arrest warrant for Njenga and took her for questioning.
